Please leave a comment if you find this helpful or something is missing. Included at the bottom is the Mississippi Acres map with hunting legend.
Let's take a look at The Hunter: Call of the Wild - Mississippi Acres Map, where are the best hunting areas, or if you found a great hunting area - leave a comment.
How I hunt: I no longer use the map-provided hunting stands or spend money building them - I rather buy a re-usable Tripod or walk and track animals until I find them drinking, resting, or eating. Tracking animals is far more rewarding than spending half a night in a hunting stand waiting for something to show up.Check out my tracking guide for the Hunter Call of The Wild.
- Simply put a waypoint to a location of about 1k, set your time depending on the animal, arm yourself, and start walking looking for tracks. When you find the tracks simply follow them and don't get distracted by other tracks, keep checking the scat for "fresh" the animal will eventually stop or start walking and you will be within 50m if the wind is favorable.
The primary weapons I use for Mississippi Acres
- The Martensson 6.5mm Lightning with 6.5mm Polymer-Tip Bullets: For me, this is the perfect weapon for Whitetail, Hogs, Black bears, and of course American Alligators.
- The Ranger .243 with.243 Polymer-Tip Bullets - Meets harvest checkfor Whitetail andfor Grey Foxes
- The Kullman .22H Hornet with of course .22H Polymer-Tip Bullets - Great for Jackrabbits
- The NEW AR .223 for the Common Raccoon, Foxes. (Raccoons became a class 1 animal with the recent update)
- The Couso Model 1897 16 gauge, with 16 gauge birdshot - Perfect for Turkey and Quail
Diamond Whitetail
As far as scopes and binos are concerned I use the Ascent for the rifles and Meridian forthe Shotgun and a Brightsight for the Bow. Of course, I use the Genzero Night Vision scope that is available in COTW.
Note: When the weapons I listed with the ammo are used on the animals mentioned you can meet the Harvest Check with the shot placed correctly and less than 3 shots. This increases your chance of acquiring a Diamond level trophy.I carry the first three weapons at all times using the large backpack and mule perk to give me more carry weight. when I wish to change the 22 for a Shotgun I simply pitch a tent and make the change.
Hunting Tactics - My main static is "follow the tracks" for the animal you are hunting. The tracks will lead you to zones and almost always the amimal.
Quick Access
Animals Locations: The places I find the most species.
Whitetail DeerFeeding - 4:00 - 8:30, 14:00 - 18:30, 18:00 - 21:30, Drinking - 8:00 - 11:30 Resting - 0:00 - 4:30, 11:00 - 14:30, 21:00 - 0:30. I hunt in the north area of the map Needle Hollow fartherest lake upper right (Got a Diamond There) and Magnolia Farms the lakes during drinking times. Two Gold WhiteTail in that location same day.
Black BearFeeding - 0:00 - 4:30, 4:00 - 8:30 Drinking - 20:00 - 0:30 Resting - 8:00 - 12:30, 12:00 - 16:30, 16:00 - 20:30Can be located in the North section of the map Magnolia Farms, and Needle Hollow areas. take a walk through the woods at around 10 am and you will run into a few Black bears, by walking you will discover a need zone for bears and other animals.I harvest the Black Bear with a Compound Bow using 600-gram arrows or my trusty 6.5mm Rifle. You can use 420-gram arrows or a 303 rifle but I find the 600-gram arrows adapt well for the Black Bear. Excellent location for male Black Bears - near Ponola Lake.
American Alligators:Feeding - 0:00 - 3:30, 3:00 - 6:30, 6:00 - 9:30, 20:00 - 0:30 Resting - 9:00 - 12:30, 12:00 - 16:30, 16:00 - 20:30Alligators are plentiful in the Delta Wetlands, Bald Tree Brake all along the shoreline. If you go to the Travels Bunk Outpost (Delta Wetlands), lower-middle section there are Alligators just 100meters from the front porch of the OutPost. - I harvested my first gold Alligator from this location using the 6.5mm Rifle with a heart-lung shot, directly behind the front legs. Try to shoot the Alligator when it is on land away from water - resting zones. If the gator makes it to the water and dies - he will float back close to the location shot near you.
The Common Raccoon: Feeding - 3:00 - 6:30, 10:00 - 13:30, 20:00 - 0:30 Drinking - 0:00 - 3:30 Resting - 6:00 - 10:30, 13:00 - 16:30, 16:00 - 20:30 .Are plentiful in Bald Tree Brake and Delta Wetlands, Magnolia Farms, and to a lesser degree in Needle Hollow. Go to any open fields in these areas mentioned and set up aTripod stand along a dirt road in the early morning or late afternoon and use the Racoon Caller. One, two, or three will eventually cross the road. - with the recent update the Raccoon is now class 1 so get the AR .223 for the little friends. You will also find plenty of need zones near and in the cotton, Corn, and Tobacco fields. You basically need to get the Raccoon out in the open to be successful and that is why I set up a Tripod Stand next to a road near a Field/need zone where they cross.
Hog Special Note: I love to use the 12 gauge shotgun with slugs to take down hogs. Hogs are easy to hunt, and require some walking and tracking until you find the hogs resting or eating. Easy Pulled Pork Roast.
QuailFeeding - 4:00 - 7:30, 7:00 - 10:30, 13:00 - 16:30, 16:00 - 20:30 Drinking - N/A Resting - 0:00 - 4:30, 10:00 - 13:30, 20:00 - 0:30Quail can be found in nearly all fields and bushy areas. Two favorite spots in the lower end of the map very bottom of Delta Wetlands - Grab your favorite shotgun and take a stroll through the fields. Second, the best place is the Bald Brakesarea in the fields located on the far-right of the map.
4 Male Gold Turkeys and 2 female Silver within an hour. Flocks up to 8. Turkeys Anyone?
Grey FoxFeeding - 20:00 - 0:30, 0:00 - 4:30, 4:00 - 7:30 Drinking - 17:00 - 20:30 Resting - 7:00 - 10:30, 10:00 - 13:30, 13:00 - 17:30 In general if you find turkeys and rabbit you will also find foxes I use the distressed rabbit caller to lure them in and dispatch using a compound bow or 243. Foxes are located throughout the map in and around open fields and are common in the lower half of the map.
The Mississippi Acres Map with my favorite hunting areas + and ++ areas = Gold and Diamonds.
All Need Zone Times: Please note Some animals may have two different times to feed/drink etc - depending on the location and animal.
